About Ayoiroha
Ayo Joy Okpa-Iroha is a fashion designer and style consultant.
She was born in Lagos, Nigeria to a father (now late) who
was constantly adorned in bespoke apparel. His interest and taste in fashion
served as an inspiration to an impressionable Ayo and led her to pursue a career
in fashion.
She expresses her passion for African heritage and culture through her selection and combination of fabrics and colours which reflects the African diversity and history. For her texture and colour in fashion is a means of communication.
She took a fashion and marketing course in 2002 at the Fate Foundation Lagos. She veered into textiles and fabrics especially within the west African region a few years later. Following this she founded a fashion house known as “Noiree” (French for Blackish) in 2003 which is now rebranded “ayoiroha”.She was the first runner-up in the “Face of Abuja” fashion show in Abuja in 2004.
Ayo worked at Ayokay fashion house from 2005 to 2010.
She had a private fashion show titled "Africa in Fashion" in Amsterdam in June 2012 and also participated at the Africa day fashion show also in Amsterdam in November 2012.
She is married to Uche Okpa-Iroha the renowned international visual artist/photographer.
She lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria.
